I say 'cool ' in reply to things people say that I find boring... or if i just don't have a response

a recent example being...

person I know: I went to Edinburgh at the weekend with my gf
me: what did you do there? I've never been
person: just walked around
me: cool


had the potential to be an interesting discussion but he was boring so I just say cool to be polite and positive whilst simultaneously ending the conversation
