Should someone who has wrongfully spent time in prison and then been released have to pay for their stay at HMP? * +

I read about a case earlier,apparently there are many other similar cases..of a man who spent years in jail and was released after it was deemed he was wrongfully jailed. He claimed compo then the government sent him a bill for 37,000 pounds..for his board and lodge in prison.

His name is Michael O,Brien. One of 3 men accused of murder in South Wales if i remember correctly. * +

He was compensated by the Welsh police..but i don't feel he should pay for his time in prison. He wasn't there by choice. * +

whoever dreamt up that response should be looking for a new job.

they've lost touch with reality if they've gotten the hump over a guy claiming compensation for his time in prison. being horrified would be more appropriate.
