Im looking to get the Htc desire hd soon on vodafone. But someone told me to get an unbranded phone. What does this mean? * +

Its possable that a branded device will be locked to the network which means you wont be able to use a sim from another network if you ever wanted to. * +

Also the menu could be customised on a branded phone which isnt to everyones taste. For instance if you bought it on T-Mobile the web browser maybe customised to T-Mobiles web and walk. It doesnt allways mean its bad but some people prefer unbranded phones cos the features can be more flexable. * +

Some prefer to customise their phone how they want to rather than it being forced upon them. If you goto carphone warehouse they usually upgrade you regardless of what network or billing provider you are with and supply you with an unbranded device of your choice that wont locked or customised by any network. * +

This providing the device is available on the network you want and I Believe the desire hd is available on vodafone. Ive just upgraded via carphone with my T-Mobile contract and as a result I Now have an unlocked, uncustomised hd desire hd. So theres your answer! * +

(htc desire hd soz) if you have any difficulties with carphone you can get the phone unlocked, although that may not be possable yet cos it has the newest version of android installed. * +

another negative for branded phones is when updates are released people with branded phones wait longer to receive the update whilst their carrier tweeks the update, unbranded is defo the way to go * +
