I heard a rumour that this device isnt designed to browse the web via gprs. And that was certainly confirmed the other day when I Strayed outside 3g coverage and my HTC literally ground to a halt while browsing. Some have claimed a 3rd party browser solves this problem but Iam curious to know if anyone else has experianced this? * +

I suppose the obvious way to test the theory is to change the network mode to gsm only if your in a 3g area and see what happens. I need to do further testing with mine b4 I Can reach a definate conclusion. Is it just a myth? Or a reality? * +

Of course it may not be a major problem if your in a large city but I Live in rural town, which does have 3g coverage but its a bit patchy to say the least. * +

Yes I Think a 3rd party browser is the answer. The myth or rumour about this is circulating in my work place but in a way it doesnt make much sense because new devices do have a higher cla55 of gprs which in theory should make them faster rather than slower. I did google it and I Couldnt find anything to confirm this gprs issue so iam a55 uming it must be browser related. * +

I did query it with phones 4u and oddly he didnt seem surprised. He went on to claim that older 2.5g phones worked better on gprs than 3g/2.5g devices which iam at a loss to explain. * +

I do recall a problem I Had ages ago when I Upgraded to a nokia 6600. At the time I Was still using gsm dial up wap (dont laugh lol) cos at the time I Had an old genie sim that gave me unlimited dial up internet. When I Found out the new 6600 didnt support dial up web I Was some what annoyed as gprs wasnt cheap to use at the time, at least not for extensive use anyway. * +
