my stock keyboard is still there and I don't get force closes actually. Android gives you a choice as to what app you want to use as default, apps like camera, gallery, video player, browser, etc. * +

same as abott, never had a problem with having both as you have to designate which keyboard you are using (in Samsungs at least) *
