do lots of research.. start in playstore looking for driver apps for controllers. see what fones and controllers are supported. then google for your particular fone and check other ppl's experiences before you buy anything. * +

you need to be rooted for that dont you? I mean like all usb otg supported phones support gamepads. but for those that dont.. I use my ps3 controller with my note 2. works perfect. pity I needed to root it to connect and play via bluetooth though. * +

yeah you need root for sixaxis. but the difference is you can map a game that doesn't support gamepad inputs and most don't * +
