Mate, I'd steer clear of cheap tablets, rather look at some Kindles e.g. Kindle HD 8.9, or Samsung, e.g. Galaxy Tab2 8.9. Android tablets require good hardware, and the cheap ones don't have it, they'll be good for a week or two then start to lag. * +

kindles take a lot of work to make them function like a normal tablet. you have to block amazon's auto updates just to keep them rooted. but there is a cm10 or higher for them.. * +

tesco hudl 1.5ghz quad core cpu, 1gb ram, 16gb storage, micro sd card slot, android jellybean, 7 inch ips display who can winge for 119 quid? Every little helps it seems. Its had positive reviews too. * +

polo is dead right about very cheap tablets they are fast at first then lag like crazy after a while. That means staying away from 50 to 70 quid jobs. Spending just a bit more buys a far better experiance. * +

but its hard to find cheap quad core tablets over 7 inch cos usually budget models are either single core or dual core. But polo have you got any thoughts as to why cheap tablets do slow down? Could it be they cant cope with fragmentation or apps that havnt shut down? Or maybe the ssd is just slower? * +

Yep, I think it's a mix of average hardware power wise and poor quality e.g. slower memory chips, cr*p LCD panels that are inefficient, poor quality main boards in general poor software optimization etc...Also many of the cheap tablet makers are not as well funded as your Apples, Samsungs, Sonys, LGs etc...So margins are razor thin and quality control isn't that great. * +
