Well they are partly to blame, but they shouldn't take all of it, you get some majorly bloated and power hungry apps e.g. when Opera10 1st came out or Firefox, but you'd know if an app is eating too much power via the built-in Battery Use app. I've heard that Motoblur is quite bloated though. * +
