Oh n our plates work in two ways, old one- say L284 RBW L signifies year 94, then rest comes as a number ref to car numbers, now we have OVO6 ROM-OV is area where cars from,O6 is march 2006, and if a September car it would read 0V56, hope helps * +

Acctually on old style plates the last three letters were specific to where a car was registered just like with the new prefix. For example Y151 SFS is an Edinburgh registered car as would be LSF but Y120 DEC would be a car registered in Kendal. Even private plates are significant to an area like mines, the last 3 letters are the central London area according to dvla * +

that alot of info on the plates, all they put on here is the code of the area the car is registered and a number to id the car. Where i live now its CY, the escort is CY165-744 , the mini is registered in wellington making it a CN code with only 4 digits as wellington isnt very big. Cars from other provinces have nw or gp after the number depending where they from * +

PY55 AWF was for sale a while back. Last few days I've seen JAM 1T on an Audi A5 and MAT 1 on an M3. That will be worth a fortune. I have a cherished plate on my car - two numbers, followed by three letters. * +
