I'm looking at buying a Escort RS2000 and spotted a 93 L reg in Autotrader with 70k miles in red for 3600 quid. Do you fellow people reckon that this would be reliable enough as a daily car? I dont have the space or money for 2 cars. I do about 800 to 1000 miles a month. What do ya all think? Yay or Nay? * +

Not bad cars,,n parts at ford prices , no reason if serviced properly that it's not a day to day car * +

3600 is expensive thats a mk5 rs u wanna get the mk6 much nicer, and ud get one around about or maybe a bit cheaper than 3600!, they got a timing chain so no need for timing belt worries , they should last quite a while, and the seats are nice too lol * +

dont get the 4x4 its not worth it , 2wd is more rapid theyre only 150bhp so better with 2wd in my opinion * +

I think I might look into a Renault Clio 182 cup sport instead. They are quicker, bit better on petrol, newer and parts more available. Same insurance group as the RS too. * +

i used 2 work at a place in southampton docks where the sum of the renaults come in. those clio 182s are fun cars. but of course i drove the cars responsibly (honest!) so i wouldnt know how much fun they are lol * +

Thats a lot for an rs2000, and thats a lot of miles ur guna do init.. Test drove a mk5b last year after i crashed my rs1800 and wernt that impressed.. Got a gti mk6 now, and they chew the wishbones a lot.. And then kill the tyres.. Iv had 8 tyres in 8months.. And i broke the clutch ratchet, big job! I do 1200miles a month and i wud like sumfin bit less juicy and reliable. * +
