ok well 4 a long time now i been wantin to do an engine swap on my E36 bmw...initially i was gunnin for a 2jz out of the supra but after some research i started to consider 1uz out of the lexus LS400 cos of price, weight, fuel consumption and reliability issues...not to mention the V8 sound...so my question is which engine is really beter and why? * +

Not sure but ive seen a complete lexus v8 with gearbox for 6k in the speedsound, suprisingly cheap * +

What abt a 1jz motor as another option? They can make decent power. Also saw that add schizzo, there must be a budget buster somewhere in that conversion. If not its a cheap and kwl conversion. * +

U even get d lexus lump fo 4995 now.. Luk in d back of d latest carmag. Mixd buddy, it al boils dwn to wat ur personal need is. Personally id take d 2jz above anytin else.. Its jst a super engine! D 1uz is reliable powerfull blah blah blah but!! D motor aswell as d box needs ecus to run. Nd thats wer d costs in. Payin 5k fo a complete motor, torque conv nd g/box incl is well. Bt gettin them.. * +

..runnin properly is gona cost u another 10k. Also buildin a v8 into d e36 is gona b a bigger hasle than d straight6 2jz.. Take ur measure tape nd pay a visit to SUMP or j*p auto nd make sum measurements. Then carry them over to d bm n make ur maths. Remember d 2jz is a easy pie on a 22r box.. * +
