You could fit new fuel pumps all day but if the relay for it is faulty they wont work .The relay is seperate from the pump and is usually located behind the kick plate in drivers side footwell near the ecu if i remember rightly. * +

do you have a induction kit on it? They play havoc with the egr valve.(exhaust gas recirculation valve) * +

To test a fuel pump relay use a test lite to figure out witch 2 pro ngs are powerd then cut a short pecie of wire (speaker wire will do) strip both ends and shove it in to the 2 female powerd holes where the relay goes. I did this on my e36 bmw 4 like 5mnths because a new relay was like 400aud. Bt b careful cause with it bridged like this if u crash your fuel pump wont turn off! * +
