hi guys jus wanna know if the 97 model toyota corolla rxi is supposed to still start when the instrument cluster is disconnected * +

If its fitted with a chipkey nd transponder module wich i think it is, d keycode wil b stored in d instrument cluster wich means it wont start. D readercoil round d ignition recognises d key, signal to d instrum.clust for verification, then d ic signals d ecu nd d car starts. * +

as far as i know, the 97 and onwards rsi/rxi wer the 1st to c*m owt wid a transponder key.it then spread to the 2000 model an onwards160i corolla and afta dat shape, toyota made it a standard feature on all their cars.and yes the car wil start without da instrument cluster.the code is stored on the computer box.the signals runs directly from the ignition to the computer box.if u luk at da ignition.. * +
