ive got a 89 model vw jetta mk2. Today i drove about 10 km and after i stopped i left the car idling 4 a few minutes when suddenly the car overheated. Water spilled out of the container. Wht can the cause of this b? * +

Have u got. A: milky residue in oil filler cap. B: oil in ur expansion tank c: u blowing White smoke out exhaust?? As if any of above, ur head gasket may have gone. If nor, as above, thermostat may have failed or rad switch which turns fans on to reg temp * +

No milky residue. Cnt see oil in expansion tank. Ill check the rad switch nd thermostat. Only blow smoke in the mornings when starting up. Ill check the thermostat and rad switch. Jst hope its nuthing crious. Thnx guys * +

I thnk i found de prob. My fan switch on whn de meter reach de halfway mark on de temp gauge bt i saw tht whn the car is in gear the meter goes back 2 de corner bt when i take it out of gear it moves 2 the middle. Wht is the cause of tht? * +
