i hear manual because u can ride the gears longer. but i dont get it. doesnt seem like one is better then the other since an auto would shift and continue to gain speed as the manual is riding a gear * +

I love the feature in some autos that wen u take ur foot of the accelerator pedel, ur rev drops to idle speed and ur car 'coasts' saving fuel while in gear. But in manual, ur rev matchs the speed ur moving and gear ur in wen u take ur foot of the accelerator pedel. * +

Manuals use virtually no fuel while coasting in gear....
manuals are pretty much always more economical and have a higher potential for economy runs because the driver has total control over engine speed at a given road speed than a conventional auto * +
