had the problem on a eco tech engine the power loss is due to the lost compression from the leaking top gasket * +

is the top gasket leaking yep. it is an eco tech engine as well....hoping power will be restored when its repaired. if not im at a loss as to why. * +

also....exhaust is blowing slightly just down from the manifold, thinking maybe that'll be causing power loss also? * +

top cover gasket maybe?

If you mean the rocker and cam cover gasket you will not lose compression if its leaking, you will only lose oil. * +

U can do it urself and save a packet, and clean everything out and the breather pipes, the garage won't clean it out properly, they'll just wipe around the plugs and where the gasket goes * +
