Fuel cannot be contaminated by bacteria if thats what you're asking, as for purity dust particles do exist in fuel and thats visible to the naked eye, other than that i doubt it... But i think you're trying to ask if maybe the fuel is being cut/mixed with other chemicals to give it volume/mass, yes there are ways but thats rather long process and you would probably need a laboratory. * +

First you would have to know the structure of the fuel you are sampling for impurities, then various tests are done to determine whats normal and whats not... Normal would be all the stuff used to make up the fuel. The rest would be your possible impurities... * +

In my personal opinion fuel can never be pure, it always and will always have impurities such as water due to moisture from humidity, dust cause altho the tanks which they transport the fuel in are cleaned theres always dust in the atmosphere, etc even things like rust particles are defined as impurities... A build up of impurities over the years without any servicing and cleaning of your cars fuel system would possibly jamm your injectors if its a fuel injection car... * +

you could prepare a sample of the fuel and pa55 it through a ma55 spectrometer or an inductivley coupled optical emmision spectraphotometer, compare the peaks with what the refinery specified and look for peaks that should not be present. it would take ages and would cost a lot of money. I have access to the hardware in my lab but cant be a*sed. Bear in mind also that there are about 6 different * +

blends at various times of the year. for example the fuel you buy in august will be quite different from that you would buy in december as the petochemical manufacturers alter the ammounts of various constituents to account for different temperatures and driving conditions * +
