if it does give a error code as well then go to the Blackberry website and search that error code and it will instruct u in detail how to reload your software... as cr55dan already said. u will lose all your data unless u done any backups recently... * +

and if you get problems loading the software, open loader.exe on its own, then plug phone in on the screen that shows PIN, as soon as it shows PIN press next straight away and it will load ok. any other probs just post here and i'm sure one of us BB abusers will help. *
