Flash = changing the software. I prefer from branded (usually orange network) firmware to generic. Enables everything inc flash menus (if the phone supports it). Cross flashing, you have to be careful: flash a phone with the wrong firmware and its hello dead phone. Certainly not possible to flash JAVA to symbian ( or smartphone like p990 etc) * +
