Its phone dependant not network so YES, but one of Sony Ericssons draw backs is the socket connection type (otherwise known as TCP), sadly its not very stable on Sony Ericsson phone's, well it is but the application needs to use Sony Ericsson phrased API's, but most developers use Nokia phrased API's because 9/10 Sony Ericsson models have Nokia UI support and it saves on programming 2 different applications. *

its also the reason Nokia and Sony Ericsson's are in a different cla55 to other manufactures, (because SE supports Nokia API's not the other way around before Nokia fans come screaming about the revolution) *
