Choose the system based on which has the exclusives that he likes and wants to play, and which of the controllers he prefers. The only other thing is which console runs games better but we wont know for sure until they are released. Personally I would go for the PS4. * +

Xbox 360 Slim is awesome. You'd like the Kinect. He'd like Gears of War. Get the 250 gb console. * +

Try playing Kinectimals. I got a Snow Leopard plush with mine. Got over 120 games. * +

Then they are much of muchness. Football games are the same on both, as is most racing games. Forza for xbox and Gran Turismo for PS are the only 2 standout exclusives for racing. Matter of opinion which of the 2 are better. Based on that it is all about the controller he prefers. PS for me. Both 360 and PS3 work well for a casual gamer and getting really cheap. Business practices of sony are a bit better though so maybe make a moral choice. * +
