The D pad is an essential part of the pad. Plus it's presence there is welcomed cosmetically. Without the D pad you would have to assign other buttons to its uses.. mission waypointing, quick weapon and weapon wheel select, use health pack, change music track, taunt, selection are just a few of the many uses plus old school arcade games feel right at home with it not to mention almost all fighting games where special moves require precision selection ...if any button is useless, it's the back button... almost void.. the classic nes found no use for the back button what so ever. The only use for the back button in modern gaming is to bring up a map/mission briefing.... even the start button doesn't do its job.... it's a pause button * +

Agree its better than the ps3 pad . Both new xbone/ps4 pads feel really good in hand *
