The upcoming movie adaptation of Mass Effect could be on its way to cinemas in late 2016, according to a tantalizing tidbit from Universal Studios.

According toThe Hollywood Reporter, the studio confirmed plans to release a secret film on November 4, 2016.

But why could this be Mass Effect, you ask? Well, theres a few reasons why its a possibility. First up, the article states that the movie is not a sequel/remake, and may be based on underlying intellectual property.

Furthermore, Legendary Pictures is co-financing the mystery project, which is the same company behind the planned Warcraft film directed by Duncan Jones. They also happen to own the movie rights to Mass Effect.

So, nothing is set in stone as of yet, but well be keeping our fingers crossed.

The Mass Effect film was first announced four years ago, with BioWare later confirming that the film would featuremale Shepardin the lead role. Not much else is known about the flick, though Casey Hudson, the Producer behind the Mass Effect series, teased it would be really special. *

Meanwhile, over on the video game front, BioWare is busy working on the next chapter in the critically acclaimed series, tentatively titledMass Effect 4. Right now though, the project is shrouded in mystery, and we don't even know if it will take the form of a prequel or a sequel.
.. Apparently though, the game is roughly in the 'middle stages of development,' and won't featureCommander Shepardin any shape or form. The sequel is also in a playable state.

If that wasn't enough, BioWare may be prepping a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version of its Mass Effect Trilogy, previously released for current-generation consoles in late 2012.

Seems odd how you wouldn't know if it's a prequel ir sequel especially if it's in the mid stages of development *

Mass effect 3 kinda left bad taste for me... not just because of the ending but mainly because it seemed soo short compared to first two and lots of the choices from the first two didnt seem to matter much. honestly i hope 4 is not a sequel or prequel but just a totally different universe with new cast and new story..
.
Movie would be cool...(lol) theyll probably pick dwayne johnson for shepard... *
