One can only imagine what this gen of consoles would be like if there wasn't a falling out between Sony and Nintendo back in 91. Didn't hurt Sony much as two years later they released their own PlayStation and IMHO Nintendo started to slide downhill.. * +

President of Sony wouldn't confirm that the Nintendo PlayStation was one of the 200 prototypes that was found as a legit prototype and reason being was its more fun to keep it kind of a mystery. , * +

It could be a fake but it is well known they partnered up to add a CD drive to the SNES. Chances are if it is a genuine prototype machine it is worth a lot. The word is 200 were built, but this is the first one ever seen in the wild. Even if others still exist, this machine is probably worth into the tens of thousands of pounds for the right collector you would imagine.

A teardown would likely confirm it's legitimacy. * +

It's been known there was a system called the Play Station that played SNES carts and has a disc drive, distinct from the original PlayStation. It's more likely to be a fake than not, but about 5 minutes with the machine would be able to determine what is legit and what isn't. * +

Didn't apple at one time try to get a piece of that console action too?
I remember Panasonic did with the 3DO...used to like that system...kicking as* with white zombie music playing in the background on way of the warrior. (Smile2) * +
