13 was pretty linear, the most freedom you'd have was in the Archylte Steppe. 13-2 is good too. * +

I bought it years ago and played for a few hours, not liking it, but I bought the collectors edition to fill my PlayStation Final Fantasy collection... Which I later purchased the second FFXIII collectors edition, which never got played. But as a Final Fantasy fan, I recommend VI, VII, VIII, IX, Chronicles and Origins.
