I've been a nokia fan for years but just taken the leap and ordered a 16gig 3gs. What kind of app's do i need to get? Also is it easy to set my own mp3 ringtone. I dont wanna jailbreak it just yet. * +

The apps totally depend on the user, just browse the AppStore. It's always best to start on your own with a new phone IMO rather than take app recommendations. If you download a Pc app called iPhone ringtone maker you can cut down mp3s and synch them to your iPhone via iTunes, you can only use 30 second tones though which is more than enough. I still haven't jailbroke yet, I tried it but went back to factory after a day plus it's only tethered jailbreak available for new 3GS's * +

I like Weather Bug Elite, Kindle, Barnes and Noble reader. And Crash Bandicott is the neatest game, too. * +

As Adi said it's really down to what the phone's user is looking to put onto it as we're all different it would be unfair to say what the best apps/games would be for you but one thing I can assure you of.....with many many years of Nokia Symbian use behind me I would have to say that you have made the right choice with upgrading to the 3GS,Nokia's Symbian OS has little new to offer me now a days. *
