http://jailbreakme.com is where you have to go on your iDevice to jailbreak.....it's a userland jailbreak taking around 5 minutes to do the job,installs Cydia.Worked no problem on my iPhone 4 fw 4.0.1 unlock should follow real soon but if you are looking to unlock DO NOT update to 4.1. * +

Those of you having problems where the device sits at the purple screen forever may benefit from clearing your cookies and restarting safari: 1) Put your device into Airplane mode. 2) Go to - Setting - safari - Cookies - Accept. 3) Double Tap home button. 4) Press and hold an icon to wiggle the task switcher icons and then quit Safari using the X. 5) Clear all Cache and cookies. * +
