Ever since upgrading to ios4 on my 3GS it always freeze up or the screen blacks out, I have to restart it every time, or sometimes it restarts it self for no reason during a call, is this a common bug, or is my phone bug*ered * +

No problem on mine. I suggest you do a back up then restore your iPhone. * +

Ok now back up is the problem, this might be a silly question but how do I back up? Not just iTunes music and apps etc, but back up everything all my contacts and all SMS cause they are all very important for work * +

Cause the last time I done a restore I lost it all and it was a big thing work related I need those contacts and all the SMS I've sent and received as reference * +

Open iTunes, connect your iPhone, on the left handside where it says your iPhone - left click and scroll down to back up. Click it and it will sync, when done everything will be backed up * +

Ok thanks will try that tomorrow, if that is the case then why did a google search led me to all types of people asking the same question, plus sites offering softwares as in paid softwares for this simple procedure? * +

I've not a clue mate, when ever I've had the need to restore I do a backup first and then restore. When it's done you can then goto restore from backup, this gets your phone the exact same as before you restored including texts, contacts and even call logs * +
