I did on my 3GS but what I did do was simply save all my downloaded .ipa's and put them onto my device when required.I now own 32GB and I'm down to 7GB already so .....the moral of my story is your device storage space can be as large as your pc's(in my case 1TB). * +

Also got 32gbs and I am down to 9gb and of that only 8gb is from my music library of 48gb. Luckily I still have the original 160gb iPod so there is still plenty of room on there to add to my collection. * +
