I've just bought a second hand iPhone unlocked and jail broken and I want to update on iTunes 4.1 will it take the unlock off as well as the jailbreak? * +

Updating will upgrade your baseband to the 4.1 one which is currently unlockable. However if it's an iPhone 4 you've got then you're in luck as you can use tiny umbrella to preserve your baseband when updating to 4.1. * +

I've got iPhone 3G and it on 4.0.1 now so if I upgrade to 4.1 it will still be unlocked to use on any network * +

You can use sn0wbreeze 2.0 to build a custom 4.1 firmware which will preserve your baseband to use with ultrasn0w. * +
