my phone died today so i need to reboot it via itunes as its been jb on 4,2,1 and only get the apple icon. when i conect the phone to itunes it wont restore from backup and it says n/a for updates . * +

Google jailbreak redsn0w. Did you unlock it? If so, you will have to restore with custom firmware-end of. Google how to do it. * +

I'm betting its done with redsn0w and unlocked-most likely done with that patched up iPad bootloader. Go into settings, then general, then about. Scroll down and us the modem firmware. It'll be something like 5.12 or 06.15.00. * +
