got i working by itunes but i need to unlock it? and no i brought it from a mate and it works with his original simcard in but not any other x x x * +

Yes you have to register it with iTunes with a sim in it on the network it was bought on * +

Unless you jailbreak it, don't update it yet. Least it still works. Read up about jailbreaking and unlocking online. Someone here may be able to help you though *
