I own both iPad 2 and iPhone 4 . My iPad works fine and stays connected on lockscren, but when my iPhone 4 goes to sleep mode or lock screen mode the wifi disconnects. I fail to understand why this happens where iPad works perfectly fine * +

thats how its designed to save battery life. its expected behaviour as long as the phone connects back to wifi once the screen is unlocked. * +

As above, and don't forget if u get an alert for an app via wifi when screen is off the alert still comes thru, it all works as it should and saves battery at the same time * +
