I'm on 4.2.1 and I must say it's very slow ,even my nokia N95 is better than this phone my iPhone is 128 ram rite... and I get only get around 40mb ram wen start up wen I open iPod alone that eats up half of it WTF I can hardly use safari while listening to music cause it will close quickly * +

Unfortunetly iOS 4.0 never did play nice with the iPhone3G and its paltry 128mb RAM, havent heard of any fix other than getting a new iPhone. * +

You may just find yourself in the same situation with the 3GS once iOs6 is released, id say jump to a iPhone4 16GB and you should be sorted for the next 1.5years. * +

iPhone 3GS is better at handling iOS 5.0.1 now. But I'd go for either the 4 or 4S as the poster above suggested. * +
