actually ableton is a lot more flexable than reason or fl studios. you can use it for straight productions, recording live, performing live, and for djing. reason is purely for production, and fl studio doesnt have as much functionality as ableton. you can also use the rewire function on Live to link in reason or other programs to give you even more choice * +

offline production? well all these DAWs will work without the internet so they are offline anyway. but if you want to record without a DAW then youll need either a multi-tracker or a mixing console running into a recorder * +
