Yeah, I think the term 'trip-hop' may have been invented by the NME or similar, who were always eager to grab a new pigeonhole to siphon the gullible into.. Portishead and Massive Attack were certainly included in the perception of this emerging Bristol-area scene. boards of canada aren't trip-hop though - I don't know what the f***k boards of canada are.. * +

Oh and I forgot - for a really splendid example in LITERAL terms (like you'd go: 'right, I can understand why this is called trip-hop'), check out Morcheeba's wonderful first album: 'Who Can You Trust' ...(and then forget about them 'cos they got a bit cr*p and bland, but that album is CLASS). *
