I've been reading that these hero's have been getting verbally abused for doing the right thing and rescuing asylum seekers crossing the channel. * +

This organisation is none political and made up of volunteers. They rescue anyone in trouble at sea be they asylum seekers or crashed Luftwaffe pilots.
It's a disgrace that some idiots are verbally abusing them. * +

its disgusting that any of our emergency services get abused, for doing their job. There was a bit on the local news few weeks ago about ambulance staff, called to an incident and they were abused and had their ambulance vandalised. Pretty awful tbh, what type of scumbag slashes the tyres of an ambulance that may have to take a seriously ill person to hospital. * +

We had a huge motorcycle track in MK called Enfield Park Noisy Sports Area. It's on old maps.

It was closed to the public with the reasoning that people (young male riders) were getting injured and being a burden on emergency services.

It's now a nature reserve.

Seems to me the same should apply to the English channel.
Boat loads of people are allowed to just run the gauntlet as much as they like (mostly young males) and whenever they get into trouble they can rely on the emergency services.

In fact, many are deliberately requiring pick-up so they can be processed immediately upon reaching the shore.

It's almost as if one was a hindrance to the authorities - and the other is some sort of political benefit... * +
