Many vegans and vegetarians in Edinburgh have hit out at a city centre cafe protesting after it used children's cartoons - including Peppa Pig- to advertise its bacon sandwiches.

Locals noticed a chalkboard sign at the Gordon Street Cafe, on Market Street in the city centre, that used animations to sell its meaty breakfasts.

The advert appears to show a cartoon that resembles the popular childrens cartoon Peppa Pig being added to a sandwich. * +

One Edinburgh mum, who wished to remain anonymous, said: Even if you are not vegan or vegetarian that could be really upsetting. My kids would be absolutely traumatised if they saw that sign, it's really not funny.

That is horrid, added another, Every kids would be upset by this - like come on cartoon animals! Animals is bad enough without ruining the kid's find too! But munches!

The cafe has been contacted for comment by Edinburgh Live. * +

The brat thinks the Peppa-bacon connection is hilarious, but it's long been an interest of hers. That includes general dodgy farming concepts such as feeding cows their own milk, versus feeding pigs their own meat..

What i find offensive is excessive umbrella parenting. Kids do have minds and intelligence of their own, contrary to increasingly popular opinion. * +

Ah, your memory is good, she showed me it but yes i was the only one it seemed with a problem. She defended it. We should be screening young children and putting them on an amber register then, do you think? * +
