There were chickens before eggs. But they were too vulnerable to carry a pregnancy around. Better to leave it in a safe place. Lots of birds do this. It's a good system if you want to fly for a living.

Of course, chickens don't have to fly now. They've got it easy, working for people. Free digs in nice big barns. And i think they do a good job, supplying us with our eggs. * +
