He isn't though. He realised early on he didn't want to care for a someone in a wheelchair. Someone who within a year had put on 4 stone and needed to use a stairlift. It was actually very honest of him to not waste either of their lives and time.

staying with someone out of a sense of duty would be worse than the quicker honesty. as long as he didn't act like a c*nt when breaking up. * +

Agreed Mel. He didn't,he just explained himself with regard to the situation to her. No doubt very painful for her. Sometimes we hurt people and there's no way not to hurt them. * +

my take, no offence to your mate, he's not the kind of guy she needed him to be. at least he wasn't going to be for her.

it's a let off for her too, so she doesn't miss out on a guy who might stand by her no matter what.

if you're considering spending your life with someone it should be because you love who they are as a person. if them getting fat makes a difference to how you feel then your feelings weren't only about the person.

the person is who you're supposed to marry, not their looks or financial prospects. *
