Married couples who wish to end their marriages amicably, will no longer have to wait for 5yrs before recieving a final anullment. Previously, there was no way to speed up the process without apportioning blame on a partner. From now there will be a 20 week cooling off period and no questions asked.

A legal victory for common sense. An increasingly rare thing these days. * +

Oh, so finally they do this.. wonderful.. since the brat's mum and I have been separated over 5yrs...

It was ludicrous, like the law actually wanted couples to go to war just to free themselves legally. * +

it was probably done originally to keep the Mary Whitehouse types happy that they weren't eroding the sanctity of marriage an all that. * +

I was never keen on the concept of marriage, it just made sense for us at the time, given the house and pregnancy, names on documents, birth certificates etc.

What was right for us as a family was always going to be made so. When the law makes it difficult for families to choose what's right for them, it's shows it's intent isn't the interests of the family.

Seems to me it runs down into the religious control culture that Mary Whitehouse was a clear advocate for. * +

(nod)otherwise known as the CofE types, not without irony considering the CofE only exists because of Henry VIII, who had a somewhat questionable perspective on divorce! * +

Marriage is a concept for a bygone era. Proper mug's game. Also to blame for us having to put up with Proddy dogs * +
