I dont usually find anything of great value….

However, one morning on my way to work I came off the train and found some money. It was a Saturday morning so fairly empty at that time. I was mid a FaceTime convo so kinda just picked it up and put it in my pocket. Paying little to no attention. Just a bill or two folded on the floor and I grabbed it.

Fast forward- call ended and I took it out and started counting it. I got to 6 100 bills and I was like ok then, lets see how far this goes. Then it got to 50s. When I was done I realized that I was standing there with a whopping 1000 dollars.

Lucky as s day. Was right around Christmas time too. Went to good use. (Proud) * +

Not sure how it works over there but over here that would technically be a crime, specifically that of 'theft by finding'. I think you have to be able to prove that you took reasonable steps to try and return the money, or whatever you've found, back to it's rightful owner(in other words, you have to hand it in and hope that nobody reports having lost it, then you get it back if nobody does). * +

Not really a finders keepers thing i guess but i once bought a book for 20 pounds,I knew it was valuable but i didn't know just how valuable. Turns out its worth 7000 pounds. * +

Found a tenner on my drive recently. It's a bit of a wind trap, few leaves, bits of litter etc. Picked em all up to tidy the corner. Thought the tenner was printed on some junk mail, but then realized it was an actual note. Kinda nice. * +

Yea, we have no such thing here. Reasonable steps to ask every person I see hey does this money belong to you.. no one would say no. * +
