its the dead sea scrolls and the gnostic gospels i think, but they aren't books of the bible but books not wanted by the compilers of the bible, for reasons unknown . . . * +

Not really 'lost'. One has to understand early struggles among christian sects and how the victorious ones adopted and enforced the canon which became our bible. Different groups held to different books but some few books were commonly accepted. Our canon is derived mainly from marcion and Iraneus' allies. Of course those rejected by the 'orthodoxy' were criminalised and possession of them * +
