Subject: Learn Islam from Hadith

Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, Do not drink in one
gulp like a camel, but in two or three (gulps). Mention the Name of Allah (i.e., say Bismillah) when you start
drinking and praise Him (i.e., say Al-hamdu lillah) after you have finished (drinking).''
[At-Tirmidhi].
Commentary: Water should be drunk in three breaths, that is one should breathe three times outside the drinking
vessel one is drinking from. This habit has a salutary impact on one's character and helps one avoid doing things in
haste. It is preferable to say Bismillah every time we drink, and Al-hamdu lillah every time we stop drinking. * +

Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Whenever the Prophet (PBUH) went to his bed, he would
say: Al-hamdu lillah-illadhi atamana wa saqana, wa kafana wa awana, fakam mimman la kafiya lahu wa la
mu'wiya (Praise is due to Allah Who has fed us, provided us drink, satisfied us and gave us protection. Many are
those who have no one to provide for them, or give them shelter).''
[Muslim].
Commentary: This Hadith impresses upon us that Almighty Allah is sufficient for mankind. That is, He saves us
from our enemies, gives us sustenance, and provides us facilities of residence and living. Due thanks should be
addressed to Him alone. * +

If the Quran is the word of Allah then why are hadiths needed to elaborate and explain aspects of it? * +

Okay, look - couple of points
(1) If you preach to someone and keep talking for hours and days, then it is mostly they benefit nothing if you are not doing that yourself. Yea, all in vain if they do not see you (or at least someone close) as a real example, a role mode player. People learn a lot by example, and very little by talks. In our context, the Prophet himself is the example model that tells what the Quran impact should be on a human. The Prophet was a human, who eats, drinks, gets married, sleep, fight in battles, sign deals, work and trade,,,,etc... in all life aspects, a comprehensive model.
(2) It is mentioned in the Quran that the Prophet will teach many things to us... It is mentioned We need take him as a model, and listen and obey. For example (There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern) 33.21 ---
(O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in All257;h and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result.) 4.59 ----
(Say, Obey Allah and obey the Messenger; but if you turn away - then upon him is only that [duty] with which he has been charged, and upon you is that with which you have been charged. And if you obey him, you will be [rightly] guided. And there is not upon the Messenger except the [responsibility for] clear notification.) 24.54
So, it is actually a command in the Quran itself to obey the Prophet in what he guids to. Hence, not obeying the Prophet comes againt what Quran says. * +

(3) Hadith is NOT always ellaborating/explaining what is in the Quran.......... many and many of Hadiths are confirmations and asserting same core of beleif/act but in different words. Yes, it explains and expands in other situations. Also, in very less occasions, Hadith may add something not mentioned in the Quran.
(4) Quran itself is a miracle, and all humankind in all times are challenged to work out something similar. Yet, Hadith is not a miracle, and none is challenged with it. What I want to say is that the scope that fits into being a miracle, the Quran, is the speech of Almighty. Getting into the level of Prophet talks is a lower level. We know that Hadith words comes from the Peophet himself, but the core message is from Almighty.
(5) The Quran described Prophet talks as 'Wisdome' ... (And recite what is rehearsed to you in your houses of the verses of Allah and wisdom.) 33.34
This verse is talking about the houses of the Prophet. We know what is recited is either the verses of Allaf (Quran), or Hadith (which is called wisdom here). * +

(6) Consider this authentic Hadith, narrated by AbuDaoud and Tirmithi
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
((Indeed, I have been given the Quran and [u]something similar to it with it[/u]. It is almost close that a man, full-stomached sitting on his couch, will soon say: Stick to this Quran, and whatever you find in it that is permissible, then make it permissible, and whatever you find in it that is forbidden, then make it forbidden.
Indeed, what the Messenger of God has forbidden is just as what God has forbidden.)) * +

No,i disagree. If God has a message for all people he or she or it wouldn't send down a message that needs further explanations.
Your so called prophet was a terrible example to humankind. Marrying and r*ping a child, slaughtering thousands. He was a monster. * +
