Hey guys i have a question when i open task manager and see the processes i have 9 processes that say Svchost.exe so what are they?i know svc means service?but what do they do? * +

So i can't end the processes?because i see they have different memory usage and i wanted to end the ones wit low memory usage but i thought i'd ask first.but if i end them some programs won't work?is that correct?and what programs r they used for because they all have the same name * +

control panel-administrator tools-services double click the service and u will c the path.if it includes svchost and u beleive u don t need it,stop it and set it to manual,check on wikipedia for info on specific services.and get some decent task manager that shows command line parameters as that would help you identify viruses that melt in the crowd of svchosts * +

as said open control pannel /admin tools/services and see which 1s you dont need. no printer then dissable spooler, no network then dissable all that refer to networking but be carefull some services have dependancies and iff you dissable them some other aplication or service may not start. google tweaking servises (add your o.s. here) you should be able to find a list of services that can be * +

I did what u said and i got it!i disabled remote access auto connection manageri looked at its properties and its path is C:WINDOWSsystem32svchost.exe -k netsvcs. . So now i got it. Thanks for the help! * +
