Am wondering whem will Windows ever realise that linux is getting closer to compete with them, i mean u can access ntfs with linux distro by default. Why cant MS make windows to read ext filesystem by default. * +

They can make it read ext filesystems, but they wont do anything that stupid....not yet. Linux n windows interoperability is not in microsoft's best interest. * +

of course.microsoft made windows, why would corporation such microsoft be interested in adjusting windows to some s**tty internet dependent incomplete and potentialy dangerous system?if i own such company i d be the first to say no.if i were microsoft i d focus on makin even better operating system than 7 or even makin strong service pack for existing.. * +

the point is linux got there later, and as a new and untested o/s they needed somethin to prove their power so they ve become a parazite suckin microsoft s blood.i can also say that linux is pretty much an open source copy of windows.the code may be different but the idea is the same-linux gots windows, linux gots taskbar etc * +

just the fact that ubuntu altered it s o/s to read ntfs tells just how unserious that all is. * +

It means linux doesnt close out windows, but there also means that Ms is afraid that linux might catch up, as people could start comparing ntfs and ext, they might be a debate and so people might jump into a lil kid on the block * +

linux is to unstable to be competition to m.s. every new itteration brings new problems, potential security holes and worse malitous programming. just look at what happend with firefox recently and there open source widgets. * +

Hey jay.mack i know you are an MS person so please dont take this personal.been using windows since win 95 and linux since 2006. The friendliness of linux may not be good(but it gets better with every distro release).but every time i have had to upgrade my kernel i only get more stability and better device performances. But win only targets ease of use and trust me sometimes you just gotta drop... * +
