for 500 pounds you can do better than an i3 they are real low end neph parts that can easily be matched and beaten by old core 2 duo's of similar price. in reality the i3 is not realy a gaming part. if you buy the top end i3 then you may as well go for a mid range i5 similar performance with less heat. also pairing it with a 6870? a decent i7 can just keep up with that card, it would crippl an i3 * +
