Hi all. I bought a new rig last September, Core i7, x58 mobo, 6GB DDR3, OCZ 700 watt PSU and an EVGA GTX 460. Since day 1 I had random crashes and freezes, not just in windows but also on the POST screen and in BIOS. Anyway, I tested the memory and went through 3 passes with memtest86+, so I don't think that was the problem. I then changed the gfx card to a GTS450 and the problems have disappeared (so far, fingers crossed). I just can't get the system to crash like before, no matter what I do. * +

So, I'm thinking the problem was with the gfx card, BUT, the one thing that still makes me a little bit unsure is that when running memtest a few times, the screen seemed to freeze, but there was still two cursors blinking. * +

I have emailed EVGA to see what they say. Surely it would have to be the card at fault if a new card has fixed the problems? * +

could be overheating issues? * +

checked the temps and they were quite low. Happens most often just after booting. If it was/is overheating, it would have to be a card fault as it's in an antec1200 case. Sometimes when the screen freezed I could still press caps lock and the light would come on, or go off pressing it again. I was wondering if anyone had heard of anything like this before. * +

Could the gfx card not be updating the data it's getting from the motherboard, to the screen? But still show old frames (frames, not sure if that's the right word?) * +
