What software can I use that is small free and user friendly that can block any programs from updating itself cause every time I connect data is streaming without me doing anything on the internet * +

zone alarm it pritty good also comodo good also i know zone alarm is free but not sure on comodo i normally torrent my programmes * +

onlinearmour is probably the best. a bit easier to use than comodo but just as secure... if you have windows firewall installed then block the program with rules. it does work its just not a lot of people can be botherd because it seems so simple to set up exemptions, thus they think its pants... it really isnt that bad, if you know how to use it... the biggest issue is its UI its not at all easy to figure out for a novice as it doesnt throw up warnings for everything. thats what makes the * +

competition easier to learn. there just more interactive. but most of the time are no better. especialy if you have windows 7. if you have a router then theres no real need for a 3rd party firewall on a home system, and if your that worried about updates and your bandwidth then the chances are your never gonna have an effective firewall anyway as they to need updates. * +

so as i say just block the aplication or service make sure theres no associted tasks sheduled to the app and you should be ok and stop the app in its tracks. * +
