There appears to be a whole lot of conflicting info out there over these cards. So assuming they are unveiled and paper launched on Monday we will finally know * +

http://www.legitreviews.com/news/12577/ the samaritan demo running on kepler, and the key is that they also said it uses less than 200w. Which backs up the 2 x 6 pin 225w max TDP theory
I expected low power so was surprised when you said 300w jay. GK104 is supposed to only be a little more transistors than a GTX580 so its power consumption should be less than 7970 * +

Me too. I don't know anymore that has been reported. I just wondered after seeing the boards were 2 x 6 pin. * +

It seems it is now almost certainly what i thought above. The largest chips are not ready, so GK104 is being labelled as GTX680, it should be only 300mm squared in size considerably smaller than a 7970 but very close in performance and TDP of just under 200 watts. Nvidia will price it against the 7970. Nvidia are taking advantage of the fact 7970 is not really fast for a next gen part by pricing what was originally a midrange card to the heavens because they can * +

Later in the summer expect Nvidia to launch their genuine heavy hitters, the really massive die chips that will destroy GTX680 and 7970. It would not surprise me if they ended up being called the GTX780, and this GTX680 was just rebranded to be the GTX760/770 etc the midrange part it actually was intended to be to start with... *
